Started by InaMK , 22 Feb Posted 22 Feb Does anyone know if an English version of the Antrag Auf Elterngeld form exists? I've looked online but have. I did it in German, but when you are a bit further down the line - here is the form for Child Benefit in English and German. Sorry couldn't be more helpful - I never found an English or dual language version of the elterngeld application - and I did look at the time 2 years ago.
I should add I didn't fill out the form the the full satisfaction of the authorities to start with - but they were very helpful and patient and my contact person responded also by email - albeit yes in German. They will also backdate the payment if you take longer to sort it out - but only 3 months from date application is received not the birth!
I;ve already filled out the Kindergelt form, as like you, I found the English one. Well, it looks like google will be my friend in filling out this other one.

Giving birth and spending Elternzeit in another EU country and receiving Elterngeld

This helps young families when the parents are unable to work after their child is born, or need to reduce their working hours. Both parents together are entitled to a total of 12 monthly payments. Two additional payments may be made if both parents take advantage of the benefit and at least one has a reduced income for no less than two months. Single parents may receive the 14 monthly payments if they have no, or a reduced, income. The parents may choose how to divide up the 12 or 14 monthly payments. However, each parent may receive a minimum of two and a maximum of 12 payments.
