To disassemble the computer, you need the following tools: Wrist grounding strap and conductive mat for preventing electrostatic discharge Small Philips screw driver Philips screwdriver Plastic flat head screw driver Tweezers Page General Information General Information Before You Begin Before proceeding with the disassembly procedure, make sure that you do the following: Turn off the power to the system and all peripherals.
Unplug the AC adapter and all power and signal cables from the system. Remove the battery pack. Page Disassembly Procedure Flowchart Disassembly Procedure Flowchart The flowchart on the succeeding page gives you a graphic representation on the entire disassembly sequence and instructs you on the components that need to be removed during servicing.
For example, if you want to remove the system board, you must first remove the keyboard, then disassemble the inside assembly frame in that order. Slide the battery release latch then remove the battery.
Detach the HDD cover from the main unit. Remove the screw fastening the HDD module. Pull the tab to remove the HDD module in the direction of the arrow. Remove the two screws fastening the wireless LAN card. Then take out the wireless LAN card from the main unit. Remove the screw fastening the modem card and detach the modem card from the main board. Disconnect the RJ cable and remove the modem card.
Remove the three screws holding the system fan. Remove the four spring screws holding the CPU thermal module. Then detach the CPU thermal module as shown. Remove the four spring screws holding the VGA thermal module. Remove the two screws from inside the battery compartment and the two screws fastening the LCD module.
Detach the strip cover from the front side and remove it. Gently pull up the keyboard to release it from the four snaps as shown. Turn over the keyboard as the image shows. Page 68 Detach the LCD module from the main unit. Push the ODD module outwards and gently pull it out as shown. Press and release the PC dummy card from the PC slot as shown. Carefully detach the upper case assembly from the lower case assembly.
Remove the screw fastening the USB board and take out the board and its cable from the lower case. Remove the four screws fastening the ODD board to the lower case. Remove the ODD board from the lower case.
Remove the two screws fastening the audio board to the lower case. Page 72 Remove the three screws fastening the subwoofer to the lower case. Remove the subwoofer from the lower case as shown. Remove the two screws fastening the button board. Detach the button board with FFC from the upper case as shown. Remove the two screws fastening the LED board. Remove the four screws fastening the speakers. Then remove the four screws fastening the LCD bezel.
Detach the two inverter cable connectors from the inverter board. Page 75
